The Ultimate How to Guide for Eczema

Are you are struggling to get on top of your eczema or dermatitis? We hear you! The Graham family has experienced their fair share of eczema symptoms, which is why Geoff Graham decided to do something about it. Over the past 18 years, Geoff and his team have worked to develop a range of products that provide natural, effective relief for dry skin conditions.

    Solution

Our natural products have been clinically developed to ensure we have used the most effective ingredients while also being gentle to the skin. While we know there’s no quick fix for eczema, we have learned that there are three key properties for eczema relief, and have designed our products to be:

    • Anti-inflammatory
    • Antibacterial
    • Hydrating & moisturising

Step 1: Natural Body & Bath Oil

There are a number of ways you can use our Body & Bath oil. Each of these methods will help to hydrate the skin and act as a barrier to protect the skin. As the Grahams Body & Bath oil is 100% oils and contains no Aqua, the oils penetrate deep into the skin providing maximum hydration.

    Bath
We suggest to bathe in the oil for 10-15 minutes in tepid water. Soaking your skin is beneficial for opening the pores and allowing the oil to penetrate deeper into the skin. Once you get out of the bath, do not rub the oil off. Instead, pat the skin dry and massage the excess oil back into the skin. You may be required to use more oil if your skin requires more hydration.

    Topical application
The oil can also be applied directly to the skin. One option is to massage into the skin before or after your shower to protect the skin. You can also use the oil throughout the day by pouring the oil into the palm of your hand and massaging onto the skin as required.

    Step 2: C+ Eczema & Dermatitis Cream

The next step is to apply the C+ Eczema and Dermatitis Cream. This is a more targeted application, applying only to the areas of your skin that are red and inflamed. Our C+ Cream contains clinically proven ingredients which aims to reduce redness and inflammation of the skin. People who suffer from eczema and dermatitis would understand that once you break the initial skin barrier, it is hard to stop the itch. Continuing to scratch can cause infection and bacteria to spread, worsening the skin. This cream contains protective lipids, natural polymers and antioxidants that help to defend skin from irritants than can trigger and exacerbate inflammation, while also helping the skin retain moisture for up to 6 hours.

    Step 3: Wrap skin

Another trick that has worked for many sufferers is to wrap the skin at night. We suggest to bath in the Oil then apply the C + Cream, after which you wrap the affected area (e.g. ankle/foot) in glad wrap. Secure the glad wrap with a first aid (crepe) bandage. This will allow the skin to heal during the night plus it will stop the urge to itch as the area is protected and covered. We do not recommend wet wrapping as water can be irritating to the skin and the wet bandage dries out quickly and can stick to the skin. Removal can be painful. Using the glad wrap alleviates these issues as it does not stick to the skin and is easily removed.

    Top tips

    Keep the skin moist!

This is the most important factor when it comes to skin conditions. You are more likely to scratch when your skin is dry and aggravated.

    Avoid triggers

Knowing what will trigger your eczema is a huge advantage. Some of us are allergic to dogs, cats, dust, grass - we could go on forever. It is vital to stay away from known triggers that can be detrimental to your skin.

    Healthy diet

Not only is a healthy diet great for your overall health and wellbeing, but it also plays a key part in reducing inflammation. Processed foods can cause inflammation in the body, so try to limit your intake of junk food and eat a diet rich in fresh vegetables and protein. Read more about the benefits of a healthy diet here.
